Wizards are running it fast - probably because of the sole season, it's a pity that they cut it so short apart from Trollhunters, because I was really enjoying this one. Sometimes it's so fast one's not even able to get it all. Wizards connects all the characters we've met in Arcadia yet, and one of the main plots is set in the past, a trope that always guarantees fun. It's another play on the arthurian legends, doing it on its own in an original way, plus the voice actors are guaranty of quality themselves. And a rocker wizard? Oh yes. Sure, there are some typical clichés, but excluding that I have nothing to say against. See more 10/26/2020 Love the wizzard and his cat, also merlin and the plot but its a pity it was not longer (2-3 Seasons). I would have loved to see more adventures of Douxie or his past 900 years, having it more as an own story rather than it being overshadowed by the troll hunters and the villians. It felt like Douxie was merely a support character for the troll hunters and a season was to short to develop the bonds between them. Also pity that the only other wizards were basically showin in a few minutes working in a store, also that the shadow creatures he hunted were only in Episode 1. It felt rushed tbh. See more 09/06/2020 Showrunner Marc Guggenheim demonstrates how up-to-the-task he is at telling 20 episodes' worth of story into 10 whilst the series also has really stunning animation for a streaming-service, fun action sequences, good voice acting and adding more to this universe's lore. Also, I'm glad the writers decided to heavily downplay 3Below's presence, focusing only on what's important to Trollhunters, what with that show being the weakest of the Tales of Arcadia trilogy. Though I couldn't handle Steve. He got on my nerves quickly, ruining more poignant scenes and having no major effect on the story other than to justify having Lancelot's character model just be a tall, bearded version of him. Who isn't his ancestor. Seriously, did the writers have any idea what to do with him? His relationship with Aja was one of 3Below's better aspects, giving some much-needed character development and here he becomes an outright dimwit who somehow never gets himself killed. Apart from how much I hated him, there's also one moment in the final episode, that, while having certain effects that prevent it from being a complete cop-out, I felt contradicted heavily with what Trollhunters kept saying. I'm keeping things as vague as possible but anybody who's seen Trollhunters can probably see what I'm getting at. All in all, Wizards did a really good job managing to pack in a 20-episode narrative into half that episode count and does a good job concluding certain arcs in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy whilst raising anticipation for the upcoming movie that will serve as the ACTUAL grand finale to the Netflix-DreamWorks/Guillermo del Toro saga.
