Critics Consensus

Wolf Like Me's mixed bag of occasionally disparate elements takes time to gel, but Isla Fisher and Josh Gad make it easy to be patient.

WOLF LIKE ME is surprisingly fun, though at times quite predictable. Nevertheless, this somewhat unusual love story is worth watching. I think the scripts are generally smart and downright funny. The horror is real, but not overwhelming. I am so glad I took a chance and watched it. Looking forward to Season 2; better be a season 2!

A Romantic Dramedy that is well constructed and performed.

Wow! This is a terrific blend of drama, comedy, romance and horror. Abe Forsythe, Josh Gad, Isla Fisher, and young Ariel Donoghue did such an amazing job. The music was so on point. The Melody Gardot reference was awesome! The callback to the Italian Restaurant was funny and tragic. That last episode has me foaming at the mouth for a season 2.

Very interested from the previews, then add a bizarre element that made it less appealing for me. Watched till the end. Interested to see where it will go. Isla and Josh are great.

Not many movies or television shows can pull of what this amazing show is able to do. I really hope Peacock doesn't drop the ball and picks this up for a season 2. Even though the critics are blind and can't see the genius in this series.

Carried by strong performances by the talented and charming Gad and Fisher, the six episode first season gives you just enough without overstaying its welcome with any unnecessary filler material. The writing is good enough, and wisely the supernatural twist isn't played to excess. The show is a low key relationship dramedy - that's the focus - and while the idea of werewolves may get you to tune in - it's the acting of the two leads that will keep you watching. They make the characters likeable even when the writing occasionally falters a touch here or there, and plaster over all the other issues the show may have - such as some pacing issues toward the back end. The choice to have Australian actress Fisher play an American living in Australia was a little bizarre - I'm not sure if it was to better appeal to American audiences - but it's not particularly distracting. Plenty of the mysteries of the first season remain unanswered, so there is ample material to carry the series forward if Peacock elects to bring it back. I certainly hope they do - the characters are very watchable and this exists as a superior product to most network fare - and has it's own distinct feel from apart most Netflix or Amazon streaming productions as well.

Brilliantly witty, quirky, dark, complex, hilarious (the shark attack like scene in the finale was so funny and incredibly well done along with the purposefully retro special effects and costuming (her lashes!)…. a point which a lot of reviews missed I think). Intense chemistry between Mary + Gary and beautiful performances from all involved. Loved the sprinkle of QOTSA and the opening credits where the song moved along each episode. I wish this series could go on and on but it was perfectly wrapped up in six episodes.

I really like it! I saw a trailer a few days ago and decided immediately it would be worth a try. Who doesn't love Isla Fisher and Josh Gad? I sat down thinking I'd give one episode a go but when I realized it was only six 30-minute episodes I ended up watching the whole thing. My only regret is that now there's no more until they hopefully get renewed for season 2!

Not your typical RomCom.… Oh yeah, there is no doubt that this series is a RomCom; however; THERE'S a TWIST! (shh) And, it's the twist that makes for a perfect "date-binge."
