Critic Reviews for Younger Season 5
All Critics (9) | Top Critics (5) | Fresh (9) | Rotten (0)
Younger's unique take on #MeToo adds a much-needed wrinkle to a moment we rightly celebrate, but whose darker sides we're less keen to dwell on.
As the show (and Liza) grows older, it's comforting to see it shake off inertia but still be able to offer insight in a loving, laughable way.
Younger obviously has no qualms about stretching the bounds of believability to suit its narrative, but the season's ending is one of those times when the show actually opts to be realistic.
Although launched as a summer show with a fun, outlandish premise, for five seasons Younger has gone much further, offering a sharp critique of how culture gets made.
The line between Younger and the actual publishing industry feels pleasurably blurry-and it dissolved further.
Nico Tortorella is simply too loveable for words.
It's cute, bubbly... One thing that they did really interestingly in the season premiere of this season is address the #MeToo movement.
One of the things that Younger does best is making you care for the characters.
Kelsey and Zane's chemistry is undeniable, but we're seeing them in a new light since they got the green-light from HR to pursue a personal relationship in the professional space because they are "equals."

Jun 21, 2018Looks like this season is a crash and burn for a show that I have obsessively binge watched in its previous seasons. clearly the writers have changed and the clever quick witted dialog has completely disappeared and it is now a cheezy sitcom that is not at all funny and not particularly interesting any more. Bring back the old writers or this will be their jumping the shark moment without even a shark
