DuBose Heyward brought Heyward's musical talents to a variety of films over the course of Heyward's Hollywood career. Heyward worked on a variety of projects during Heyward's early entertainment career, including "A Tribute to American Music: George Gershwin" (PBS, 1986-87), "American Pop" (1981) and "Jazz in Exile" (1982) starring Dexter Gordon. Heyward also contributed to "Porgy and Bess" with Sidney Poitier (1959). In the nineties, Heyward's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like "The Indian Runner" (1991) with David Morse, the Ian Hart comedic adaptation "Mojo" (1998) and "My Giant" (1998). Heyward's music was also featured in the Cameron Diaz hit comedy "There's Something About Mary" (1998), the dramatic comedy "A Walk on the Moon" (1999) with Diane Lane and the Bruce Willis dramatic adaptation "Hart's War" (2002). Heyward's music was most recently featured in the dramatic adaptation "Labor Day" (2013) with Kate Winslet.
