He was nominated for an Academy Award for "Separate Tables" in 1958. He followed this recognition with scripts for "The Happy Thieves" (1962) and "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" (1962). John Gay more recently wrote "Summer of Fear" (CBS, 1995-96).
