Although he grew up in a tiny French village of less than 300 residents, production designer Olivier Raoux would go on to become a seasoned production designer in the busy world of filmmaking. Raoux eventually moved to Paris, where he began working with some of the most acclaimed directors of his generation. One of these directors was Olivier Dahan, who in 2004 recruited Raoux to work on his action-thriller "Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse." The film was widely acclaimed by both audiences and critics, and three years later Dahan again enlisted Raoux to work on his biopic about French singer Édith Piaf, 2007's "La Vie en Rose," which would earn Raoux a BAFTA nomination for Best Production Design. Raoux followed that film's success with yet another lauded film, the 2008 fantasy-adventure film "Les Enfants de Timpelbach," which earned him a prestigious César Award nomination. Sadly, however, Raoux would go on to do the production design for only one more film, the 2012 adventure-comedy "Houba! Le Marsupilami et l'Orchidée de Chicxulub," which starred legendary actor Gerard Depardieu. In March 2011, Raoux died unexpectedly at age 49 of cardiac arrest.
