Points off because several things weren't explained in the plot but overall was a good watch. See more Blake- N @PBSAniDom Apr 19 The Box (2009) is a decent film with an intriguing premise that pulls you in right away. The idea of being offered a simple choice with serious consequences is compelling, and it creates a strong sense of mystery early on. The performances are solid, with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden doing a good job portraying an ordinary couple faced with an unusual moral dilemma. The film builds atmosphere well, leaning into a strange, almost unsettling tone that keeps things interesting. That said, the story becomes increasingly abstract as it goes on, and not all of its ideas come together in a satisfying way. Some plot elements feel confusing or underexplained, which takes away from the impact. Overall, it’s a watchable and thought-provoking film that doesn’t fully land, but still offers enough to make it worth a look. A fair 6/10. Of course it reminded me of Donnie Darko, it was only until after I watched it did I realize the same director made both. Disliked the gendered-ness of the women always taking on the "Eve" like role of "eating the proverbial apple".
