People were forced to leave Earth a millennium ago to establish a new home on Nova Prime. Now, Gen. Cypher Raige (Will Smith) heads Nova Prime's most-prominent family. Cypher's teenage son, Kitai (Jaden Smith), feels enormous pressure to follow in his father's legendary footsteps -- which strains their relationship. The story itself is good. Not great, but good. My biggest issue is not that Smith's son is in it, which made a lot of people to hate on the movie without giving it a chance. He was actually a good actor. My problem is the southern accents. Its not the occasional southern accent, thats not uncommon and can be desirable. It's that EVERYONE is using one, even actors not known for it. That stopped me from fully enjoying the movie.

I tried to enjoy this movie; I wanted to enjoy this movie. I did not. I like most of Will Smith’s movies and M. Night Shyamalan usually directs well. This movie looks ok, but the plot is meh. However, what really drags this movie down is the acting. Sometimes the apple falls miles from the tree and sometimes it’s in a different galaxy. The kid should consider a different career. I was mostly bored with this.

Could have been alright based on the plot. Bit then Will and Jayden Smith putting in one of the most irritating performances in history. Most of the film Will over acting as some captain come super strict dad giving his son useless monotone instructions and then Jayden running around all over the place hyperventilating when he hears from so little as a mouse fart so just a load of shouting and winging in summary.
