In this chilling adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel, withdrawn and sensitive teen Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) faces taunting from classmates at school and abuse from her fanatically pious mother (Piper Laurie) at home. When strange occurrences start happening around Carrie, she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers. It isn’t explicitly about school shootings and yet it shows you, like no other film I have ever seen, the horrifying wish-fulfilment ecstasy of such horrific acts. De Palma is the only director who could have done it.

It walks the line between dark comedy, horror, melodrama successfully. The over the top cruelty and humiliation portrayed in the film don’t seem ridiculous... because they represent the inner distorted world that every teen experiences in high school.

Very few films that make my eyes dry out from being so wide open while watching. Having seen the 2013 remake first, I thought I knew what I was getting into. I did not. This is among the, if not the, best movies I’ve ever seen. The acting is incredible, the screenplay is fantastic, and it’s like a testament to how emotional and mesmerizing cinema can be. It’s impossible to give this a higher rating. 5.5 stars out of 5

Carrie, a nice Stephen King adaptation starring Sissy Spacek delivering a great performance as the telekinetic protagonist, Carrie White. Brian de Palma direction from different angles at the infamous prom scene, adds to the suspense and horror. A Good scary Movie.

A horrifying and suspenseful thriller packed with great acting and a nice revenge narrative at the end. Brian De Palma in the director's seat is no slouch and does everything he can to make this film great and he does. The acting and music are on a whole other level as well. A terrific horror film to watch with a nice runtime.

A classic 70’s horror tone that shows the ups & downs of high school in full force. Simple cinematography that uses unusual angels, movements, & split diopters to make things look absolutely amazing. Yet the pacing is awful & inconsistent as it flies over the setup & crawls towards the climax. A bold story for its time & I’m glad it never holds back on the tough subjects of bullying, puberty, & fanatical religion. It’s campy & overdone at times but that actually ends up reinforcing its identity & target market.
