Jonathan Switcher (Andrew McCarthy), an unemployed artist, finds a job as an assistant window dresser for a department store. When Jonathan happens upon a beautiful mannequin he previously designed, she springs to life and introduces herself as Emmy (Kim Cattrall), an Egyptian under an ancient spell. Despite interference from the store's devious manager (James Spader), Jonathan and his mannequin fall in love while creating eye-catching window displays to keep the struggling store in business.

This movie is a real curiosity. It's dead. I don't mean it's bad. A lot of bad movies are fairly throbbing with life. Mannequin is dead. The wake lasts 1 1/2 hours, and then we can leave the theater.

There`s some solid talent here, but Gottlieb's overemphatic direction reduces them all to broad caricature -- the kind of crazed mugging that isn't often seen outside the boundaries of Saturday morning kiddie shows.

I like the movie, it is funny in a stupid way, and the characters while hamming it up, make for some interesting interactions.

I love this movie. It's a really fun 80's romance with comedy and memorable characters (especially Hollywood). I think this is a great fun movie for people who just want some fun. The music is great too.

Well, this didn't age well by any means. But it's still fun enough. It could have been a great one, but it got lost in the cheap laughs and antics.

The ratings from critics on this movie make me question ALL the ratings of other movies. Only people that watched this in the 80s should be allowed to comment. I just heard the theme song on the radio. And all the good feels came rushing back. This movie is from a better, simpler, happier time.
