Things take a turn for the worse, however, when Lucas is struck by lightning. Luckily, a generous nun comes across the injured shepherd and takes him back to her abbey. When he awakes, Lucas is shocked to learn that the accident has robbed him of his sight. With Christmas only a few days away, Lucas prays for his vision to return. Originally airing in December 1975, THE FIRST CHRISTMAS (featuring the voices of Angela Lansbury, Cyril Ritchard, and others) is a bighearted cartoon tale enhanced by stunning animation and a very catchy run of Christmas songs by composer Maury Laws. The film's intelligent and original story elevates it to the level of adult drama while maintaining its appeal to children. [More]
