This fiasco not only costs Dutch his position, but his wife, Hattie. With no paycheck coming in, and no job prospects, Dutch finds himself reduced to living in a hobo camp. The sympathetic Hattie, now involved with Dutch's former boss, still cares enough for her ex-husband to try to help him; unfortunately, her efforts land her in jail.
