Chain Reaction (1996)
This is a nice action / chase movie directed by Andrew Davis, who did "The Fugitive" and a lot of other action movies.
What a timely film, with the price of fuel and electricity always going up. In Chicago, a University team of scientists is trying to make a low cost energy source from hydrogen that won't pollute the environment. And, to top that all off, they want the technology to be freely available to everyone on earth.
Eddie Kasalivich (Keanu Reeves) is a blue collar student and machinist who has been helping the team where ever he can. After a celebration party over the successful tests, Eddie escorts a rather drunken Dr. Lily Sinclair (Rachel Weise) home and tucks her in.
Upon his return he finds the professor has been killed, and a time bomb is planted. He narrowly escapes the blast on his motorcycle, but he finds that the whole project has been ambushed, the scientists have been arrested, and he and Lily are both the prime suspects in the whole incident.
They contact a mutual friend, Paul Shannon (Morgan Freeman), but are finding that they shouldn't trust anybody and are forced to run from the FBI.
