Two men who have a great deal in common become friends, only to find themselves turned into enemies in this slam-bang action fest from Hong Kong. Tyler (Nicholas Tse) is a man trying to make a career in a rough section of Hong Kong. No Friends? Inconceivable! Log in to see what your friends have to say.
Goofy, outlandish and exhilarating.
Makes for compulsive viewing even though its noirish plot doesn't make a lick of sense.
Proves once again that it doesn't matter if the camera is dancing a jig on the ceiling if the storytelling is no good.
Tsui Hark does not disappoint. From dizzying camera plummets to strange slow motion or freezeframe hammer-to-the-face shots, the film is visceral and bombastic enough to keep the midnight crowds awake through it all.
All and all, Time and Tide is, to be completely unprofessional for a moment, really damn cool.
I can't find any entertainment value in this cartoon-like violent film.
Tsui Hark reborn from the ashes of his sojourn into Hollywood pap, flying high minus the wirework theatrics and loving every freaky frame.
Longtime fans of Hong Kong action should be delighted to see Tsui back where he belongs and going as strong as ever.
There really is something new under the sun when it comes to shoot-outs and fist fights and this film has it.
There's no question Hark still has talent -- he just needs to find his footing again.
A rabid dog of a movie, careening about about wildly in a fashion that's briefly fascinating but grows increasingly repetitive and exhausting.
