Audience Reviews for Embrassez qui vous voudrez (See How They Run) (Summer Things)
It's not hard to see why A Very Long Engagement got it's long name. It is essentially a very long movie.
Thankfully however, it is not a bad movie - so that does relieve the pain your backside will have as you leave the theatre or couch.
This film does unfortunately overstay it's welcome and is a little too drawn out - but as for selecting one of more gorgeous films of 2004, this would definately have to be it. It is superbly acted, but more importantly exquisitely filmed. Every scene is a lush masterpeice from what appears to be some "really old film" as somebody I knew put it.
Audrey Tatou carries the film along nicely and shows that her dramatic skills are various and she doesn't just have to be "that chick from Amelie".
However the real enjoyment for me was to see Gaspard Ulliel from 'See How They Run' in a much larger role and film (the first thing I thought would happen the first moment I saw him on screen). There is a great feeling of beauty when Ulliel is part of a scene. He adds a humane, vivid quality to the war scenes, and an originality and innocence to his romantic scenes with Tatou.

See How They Run is a very fun, typical French movie that centers on families and friends on holidays in the summer sun. The atmosphere is humourous but also characters that are interesting and have depth. Charlotte Rampling (Swimming Pool) gives another fantastic performance in this too.
Ulliel plays a young man desperate for a girl while on holidays with his parents and is quite hilarious as it is. He reminds me of a schoolmate - so it was fairly amusing to watch.
