Their world is gonna be a world of sex, fun, and more sex. If the 70's are this wild, just imagine how wild it will be when they grow up -- Uh, not exactly. "So you don't mind that you missed Woodstock? Plato's Retreat? Who'd want to hang out in Hef's grotto with James Caan and a dozen Playmates, when you can grow up with Reaganomics and Rock Hudson's declining health?" This is the dilemma facing the now adult Steve and Eric, average guys living their average lives with their average wives in the small town of Freehold, New Jersey. In their early 30's, they're starting to realize that something is missing in their lives. It's not that their lives aren't turning out as expected -- it's that they're turning out exactly as expected. They have become "grownups". And they're having trouble dealing with it. Steve has a good life, a great wife, but he's still bored. When he gets a job offer in San Francisco, it's something new, something different. Eric has married his high-school sweetheart whose biological clock has just gone off, to his dismay. Having been with one woman his whole life, Eric constantly jokes that he and Steve should "swap wives". When Steve's job offer falls through he feels that life is never gonna change. He becomes desperate to do something wild, before it's too late. Then it dawns on him: What if Eric's wife swapping "joke" became reality. "If we plan it out, why don't we?" he asks. "Do what?" responds Eric. "Swap". "Swap what?" But convincing his lifelong friend is just the beginning. How does one ask his wife to try something that breaks multiple taboos? In New Jersey, no less. Could going through with it destroy their marriages and friendships? And even if this doesn't cause harm to their relationships, is it enough? Can they move on and accept that they are "grownups"? -- © 2001 Bridge and Tunnel Productions [More]

There’s not much deeper psychology delved into in this spouse-swapping comedy... but its winning ensemble cast makes it, overall, an enjoyable treat.
