Clifton Collins, Jr., did not receive the same level of acclaim and that's a shame in my opinion. The scenes these two excellent actors shared are phenomenal. On top of that the story is top notch. See more Jace E @thefilmguy May 19 Philip Seymour Hoffman has an on-screen presence and deep voice that captivate me, no matter which film he's in. When "Capote" started and I first heard his voice, I was taken aback. I was honestly worried that the character he was playing was too different for me to enjoy. Boy, was I wrong. He crushes this role and carries the film on his back. As a whole, this movie is pretty good. The plot is straightforward and the performances are above-average. There are some strange cuts between scenes that left me wanting more. It felt as though I was watching the movie on cable and there were purposeful breaks for commercials. In the end, PSH did an amazing job and I enjoyed the film 90% because of him. Best Character: Truman Capote Best Quote: "It's as if Perry and I grew up in the same house. And one day he stood up and went out the back door, while I went out the front." - Truman Best Scene: Perry Describing the Killings Best Piece of Score: "Capote Suite" See more Griffith J @griffithxjohnson May 6 Definitely slow paced & slightly boring but the deep dive into the complex & layered mind of Truman Capote is very interesting with Hoffman bringing a truly unique & convincing performance. The look at American writing as it undergoes a massive change due to his work is an impactful piece of literary history. It’s bleak & sad as it faces tough questions about the death penalty & morality of true crime authors. Strange to say that the first half of this film has a really cosy tone as the time period is well presented. Capote’s troubled motivations & self centered ways show all his strangeness & historical points in very real ways. Capote’s relationship with the murderers of the Clutter family in 1959, is intriguing to watch. Overall, Very dramatic and well acted movie.
