Pais provides a history of 7th Street, between Avenues C and D, from the 1800s to the early 21st century, and then offers moving recollections of his childhood growing up in his mother's bohemian household. Interviews he held with the eclectic group of inhabitants of the area between 1992 and 2002 offer much food for thought about issues of community and gentrification. [More]

This documentary should be required of students, politicians, developers, and planners.
Pais' self-referential style...soon undermines the film's initial charm and obliterates any historical value it might have had.
