They've got to do something else with these poker movies.

Reynolds doesn't convey any of the lightning bolt insouciance that made him arguably the greatest movie star of the '70s and '80s (really) but rather just stands there.

Success isn't in the cards for this plodding poker drama.

Deal could use a touch of the slickness that's making the blackjack drama 21 such a greasy hit.

A product of the recent poker craze, this can't compare with the movie that helped launch it, John Dahl's tense Rounders.

Deal is perhaps too briskly paced: The narrative moves along a bit too fleetingly for any genuine character development.

Deal centers around a aging poker player played really good by a ageing Burt Reynolds who never fullfilled his dream of winning the big one and the young kid just out of college he takes under his wing showing him the ins and outs of the poker world that is untill student and teacher go up against each other in a winner take all world series of poker. really good movie worth checking out for those that enjoyed Rounders

This movie was quite familiar to me. I thought I was watching a remake of Color Of Money. Spme serious hackey acting and I believe Reynolds studied Newman's performance in the forementioned film. The pros that make cameos don't even add anything to the film.
