Through striking cinematography, a perfectly chosen soundtrack, and standout performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, the film draws viewers into a descent into madness that remains elusive until its unforgettable final reveal. The setting and cinematography do a great job of making the island feel unsettling throughout the film. The story keeps you invested by putting you in the guy from the Titanics shoes, letting you share in his confusion and uncertainty as the mystery develops. The twist is handled well and doesn’t feel overly telegraphed, making the ending hit even harder. Some scenes linger a bit longer than necessary to build tension, but they never dragged enough to hurt the experience. The strong ending and overall vibe make this one of the more memorable psychological thrillers I’ve seen. I’d rank it like a 76/100.
