John C @JayDizzle209 Jun 6 The people leaving all the negative reviews are most likely all the violent, arrogant and mentally abusive drunks themselves. That's why they find it boring and fake. To them, being in rehab is not like this, it's pure hell...because they made it pure hell without even trying. I should know, I too did 28 days and met many similar people while being there. They were no picnic, in fact they were unpleasant jerks who didn't give a damn about anybody else but themselves. I was very much like Gwen in this movie. I actually tried, found myself in unlawful and deadly situations but managed to push through because I gave it my all. The people I met in rehab were some of the most complex yet heartwarming people masking their hate for society. Many of them opened up to me and I have NO idea why. It was definitely a learning experience for me, one that I'll never forget. And to this day, I still remember all of them and what they meant to me. The film is honest & about self discovery. Meaning The Walking Dead ripped off every aspect of this film. But I'm sure Zombie wonks will say the mall scene in this film is from Zombie Flick X, and the naked-atop-the-Ferris wheel/nachos buffet scene (was that pica de gallo or blood?!) is from Y. Every Zombie is every other Zombie, a funhouse mirror of Humanity's Essence. What essence? Like every true monster film, the humans are inevitably worse than the monsters. WE are the Walking Dead, folks. Acting? Cillian Murphy channels Kate Moss with an Amish beard. Naomie Harris brings the vibrancy of someone who is acting for their life. (Spoiler alert: at one point she is attacked by a reanimated serving of fish and chips.) Jackie Gleason, as the father figure, gives his best effort since Smokey and Bandit, Part 3. These flaws may explain why the film didn’t achieve “mega-hit” status or why some critics and audiences were lukewarm upon release. But to dismiss 28 Days outright would be unfair — because beneath its imperfections lies a film that genuinely resonates. Personally, I believe 28 Days deserves more credit than it often receives. It’s rewatchable, thought-provoking, and a reminder that recovery isn’t about perfection but about perseverance and self-discovery. While the film may not have reached blockbuster acclaim, it offers a heartfelt, honest look at addiction and the strength it takes to face yourself. Final Verdict: 28 Days may not be flawless, but it’s an important, well-acted, and emotionally engaging story. Sandra Bullock elevates the material, and her performance alone makes it worth watching. See more Melissa L @Agent99 Sep 14 I thought Sandra Bullock did a great job portraying an alcoholic sentenced to a rehab center after a drunken episode ended in a car crash.
