Movie Info
The horny teen heroes of American Pie (1999) return for further raunchy antics in this comedy sequel written by the first film's creator, Adam Herz. Returning home following their freshman year of college, old friends Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), and Stifler (Seann William Scott) rent a summer house on Lake Michigan where they hope to score romantically. However, complications ensue due to Jim's relative lack of experience,

A slipshod sequel that looks tossed together over a weekend by people who couldn't care less.
It's a cheesy mixture of porn and corn.
Rogers's feeble attempt to ape the Farrellys' gross/sad/funny dialectic falls flat.
Less a movie than another efficient moneymaking machine for Universal Pictures, American Pie 2 is a remarkably boring comedy.
Sure it's a sequel, but Pie 2 reprises most of the spirit of the first movie.
What a portrait of young American manhood as a collective of hormone-addled schnooks -- effete, incapable, soft and doomed, a group of chuckleheads who couldn't find the sky without a sign that pointed up.
Our second encounter with the Class of '99 is unashamedly similar to (but way slicker than) its predecessor.
just doesn't have the story and character charm behind it that the original film did
Better than #1 but still raunchy. Teens love it.
While it delivers a decent number of laughs, this second serving of Pie still tastes too much like the first.
I'll keep coming back for the ride until it stops being fun. I just hope it doesn't go as far as AMERICAN PIE 9 - THE MIDLIFE CRISIS.
Fans of the first one will come away tasting soggy reheat, not this year's new improved recipe.
I'm ecstatic to report that American Pie 2 did not disappoint.

I like how this film takes the character relationships from the first one and expands on them. We see strong development between Jim and Michelle that works very well. There's also things going on with Jim's friends as they deal post-high school life. I feel this is a necessary sequel because we can see how the characters have changed with time being apart.
Now the humor. Take all the raunchiness from the first film and times it by two. It's still funny and doesn't feel too forced, but if you thought the pie scene was bad... just wait. Actually, one of the funnier scenes in the film isn't all that raunchy: Jim's performance at band camp. So for the most part the humor is great.
All in all, American Pie 2 succeeds as a comedy sequel. It maintains what made the first one great but also introduces us to new things. The soundtrack is once again awesome and the film manages to genuinely deal with certain life situations once again.
