After 30 years working as a clerk in the box office of a small movie theater, Anita's boss gives her two weeks of paid vacation in appreciation for her dedication. But the blond, vivacious, and anxious Anita senses that something is wrong. Upon her return from a stressful beach retreat, Anita finds that the theater has been leveled by bulldozers, and her boss, who sold out for millions to a commercial megaplex, has arranged an early retirement package for her. Lost and confused, equally afraid of getting old too fast and spending her life alone, Anita can think of nothing else to do but follow her usual routine. She takes the bus to the construction site daily, and eventually begins a steamy affair with the burly bulldozer operator (Jose Coronado).
