The boys are back and badder than ever. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith reunite with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay for another exhilarating and high-intensity action adventure in Bad Boys II. The danger quotient is heightened and so are the laughs in this new installment as Miami narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) become part of a high-tech task force assigned to stem the flood of designer ecstasy into Miami. They unwittingly uncover a deadly conspiracy involving a ruthless drug lord, played by Jordi Mollà, who is determined to expand his empire and take control of the city's burgeoning narcotics trade, killing anyone who stands in his way. To make matters worse, Marcus' beautiful sister Syd (Gabrielle Union), an undercover DEA agent, gets caught in the crossfire, forcing our heroes to the edge of the law. The assignment takes on further complications when romantic sparks start to fly between Mike and Syd, driving her overly protective brother completely around the bend. But Marcus and Mike must overcome their differences to bring down Tapia. And when Syd's cover is jeopardized, it's up to the Bad Boys to rescue her. Reviews for Bad Boys II
Bad Boys 2 plays like a flashy highlight reel from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
Necrophilia, explosions, destroyed motor vehicles, gratuitous T&A and Martin Lawrence and Will Smith doing their lame Abbott-and -Costello act. What's not to hate?
Might be considered three action sequences and four comedy routines in search of a story.
Hulk plays like Three Sisters in comparison; T-3 is a talky thinkfest and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle a model of restraint.
Very funny at times, maudlin at others and excruciatingly violent throughout, Bad Boys II -- director Michael Bay's latest festival of exploding cars and shaking cameras -- is, at 147 long minutes, just too much of a mediocre thing.
Despite some awesomely choreographed stunts and the two stars' pedal-to -the-metal appeal, the movie seems endless.
The perverse feat of Bad Boys II is that it's formulaic enough to serve as a format-compatible sequel to half the cop buddy capers ever made.
A mind-boggling, nerve-numbing, adrenaline-pumping combination of shock-and-awe brilliance and idiocy.
Everybody involved in this project needs to do some community service.
In some eyes, this is a movie; in others, it's a weapon of mass destruction.
It is the loudest, crassest, fastest, most destructive, biggest and dumbest.
Just when you thought summer movies couldn't get any louder, more violent, more intentionally brainless -- and, worst of all, any longer -- here comes Bad Boys II, its chest all pumped up with the pure pointlessness of it all.
There seem to have been more bullets fired in Bad Boys II than in several small wars.
