The result feels like a class project (as indeed it began), stretched but not deepened to feature length. Go to Full Review

Sweet, funny and ultimately rather touching, this rudimentary record of Mr. Harris's quest to overcome the romantic barrier of his carrot top walks a wavery line between dating odyssey and meditation on the scars of the schoolyard. Go to Full Review

"Being Ginger" isn't as content to just be one in a crowd, translating its peculiar premise into something as unique and worthy of celebration as its filmmaker's mane. Go to Full Review

05/16/2017 While the overall presentation does feel a little too much like a school project, it does provide a very engaging insight into a man who is often turned down by women and was regularly teased on the streets and shunned by his classmates in school just because of the color of his hair, and it therefore acknowledges a certain kind of prejudice that is deemed socially acceptable (even though it definitely shouldn't be). However, I do feel that this documentary could have dived into the subject a little bit more, and that it could have taken itself a little more seriously. Either way, as a man who adores redheads and finds the majority of them extremely attractive, I say that natural redheads deserve a lot more respect in Great Britain and a lot more recognition in Hollywood, even if they aren't as oppressed as minorities living in Trump's America. See more 05/03/2017 Interesting, his self-esteem is so low you can't distinguish between what challenges he encounters because of his hair color and what he experiences because of his lack of self confidence, one sided view of happiness, self hatred and desparation. I would like to se amovie about how he works through those issues internally as opposed to finding a yellowed haired women to affirm him. See more 03/10/2016 The sheer genius of this documentary lies in Scott P Harris's hypocrisy. He was bullied by shallow low lifes but he has become the most shallow of all. He said that ginger men and women are ugly but there are a plethora of hot ginger women such as Christina Hendricks. He finally meets a ginger lady that he deems attractive and she is the first he has seen which might mean he has been living under a rock. Finally I conclude that although his gingerness may be the original reason for his misfortune, he can't blame his ginger mane now for it is him as a person that is driving women away and not his hair. See more 02/08/2016 Fantastic. People have a habit of writing off bullying to red heads as a "non-issue", however it's quite the opposite. Scott's honesty shows how ingrained one's perception of beauty is when they are ostracized/objectified because of their natural self. See more 02/02/2016 This hit too close to home. Sad. See more 01/18/2016 As a self confident "ginger" with much more important things to worry about than the color of my god given hair color, I was not only bored, but in awe that someone would make such a big deal over being a redhead. Sure, redheads can get teased, but to shed tears, feeling "sorry" for redheaded children at a ginger festival, seems small minded and insulting. This film was very self-indulgent. It was not about "being ginger," but rather "being self conscious" due to much deeper rooted issues other than "being ginger." See more Read all reviews
