R T @crillovision 2d My wife and I were actually ushered out of the theater where this was a first run feature for laughing quite loudly in the places that were supposed to be dramatic. People who were there to see the bad sex and gore were offended apparently. The acting was beyond sub-amateur and the music played by the movie's "band" could not be more chuckle bait pathetic. Apparently the director and some money guys thought this would be his breakthrough and crossover biggie. It is more the equivalent of blowing chunks. I suppose it is you gotta see it to believe it - but Pink Flamingos runs circles around it start to finish. See more Dave S @RT68722908 Jul 25 Okay…so what am I missing here? I get camp and understand the draw of cult movies, but what is the appeal to Beyond the Valley of the Dolls? On top of its repetitiveness (sing, smoke weed, dance, get naked, drink alcohol, have sex, and then endlessly repeat the cycle), this may be the most poorly edited movie ever made, a masterclass in how not to edit a film. And then there’s the ridiculous dialogue (thanks, Mr. Ebert), the crappy acting, and the total absence of a story. And then there’s the narrator, who pops out of nowhere near the end, who makes a lame attempt to justify what you just watched.
