Love Sam Rockwell. Did not love this film. John Turturro's character was on my nerves from the get go. I personally don't see how one weekend spent with a free spirit can change a man's whole outlook on life. His poor, suffering wife and child seemed RELIEVED he was away from home. I can't blame them. I have to say I could feel no kinship with the main character, and the movie just seemed pointless to me.

So much fun! I couldn't help but smile through a lot of this. Turturro and Rockwell are so much fun to watch on screen, especially together. Love the soundtrack, too. The script is kind of a jumbled mess but the performances are the general tone carry this well. A quirky, entertaining film that's quintessentially 90's.

Book of Moonlight has a Coen Borthers feel with some of their quirckier movies like Raizing Arizona, or Barton Fink. I am probally acociating it with them becuase John Turturro, but he is really good in these types of movies.

Strange, in a good way. Something that my friend saw, then talked about all the time and made sound wonderful. I finally got to see it and I wasn't disappointed. It's unique and quirky, and it's something to share with my friend.

Mesmerising! It is one of those movies I had never heard of but for some unknown reason could not stop watching it. Watch it if you have a chance.

I would give this 6 stars, you just have to see it. You might have to ask clerk to order. But it is well worth it.

It's not going to appeal to everybody, but I myself liked it. Just quirky enough to stay interesting.

Another great work by Tom DiCillo. John Turturo and Sam Rockwell have a wild journey that has them sniffing girl's underwear and fighting each other with ripe tomatoes. Never before has a man made such a quick turnaround in life as he does after meeting the kid aka Bucky, Floatie and Purlene. This is a OCDetox must see.

Seriously think this one is way underrated. Sam Rockwell is hilarious the rest of the cast is fab. Favorite part -- the old guy purchasing the lawn ornament. Come on Tomatometer. Jeez.

Surprising little movie with a big impact. It's the kind of story that could help you fall asleep at night if you would imagine yourself being in Al's situation. A campy beautiful plot that takes a bite out the fear of growing old. Sam Rockwell's role reminds you that you are not as idiotic is you might sometimes think.

I like John Turturro as a actor, but I didn't buy into his character in this one. I can blame it on the director. Odd film.
This was a completely pointless film, but I somehow managed to get through it. I think I wondered where the plot might end up, but it didn't go far. The film ended, and I said, "OK?"

Really enjoyed this quirky tale about a man unable to reach beyond his comfort zone, and his transformative voyage of loosening up. Sam Rockwell is often hilarious as the free spirited "Kid", and him and John Turturro bring full characters out of what could have been a two dimensional performance. Like the Turturro character says: "Life is a tomato right off the vine."

Despite the potential miscasting of John Turturro, somehow this film still works. Sam Rockwell delivers the goods as his quirky character 'The Kid'. The film rolls along at a slow relaxed pace which may not suit the pallet of some however for me its still an enjoyable movie. Who doesn't want to break away & enjoy a simpler life, even if only for a few weeks.

While I've been waiting to receive my movies in the mail, I caught this movie on cable called, "Box of Moonlight" and it was very good. I wouldn't say it was awesome but it was very good. Like a lot of movies I think the problem of "Box of Moonlight" was an editing issue. The cast was amazing and the writing was great but I think editing can make or break a film. In this case, the editing left out a few things that audiences might find helpful in understanding this film. I still think the film was great though. "Box of Moonlight" is about a man who is dealing with the lose of his youth. The film begins with the man who is a supervisor of a construction crew from out of town that doesn't have much respect for him. The man is often very hard on his son, bit of a tight ass, and his overly patient wife seems to be at the end of her rope but not ready to throw in the towel. During this time the man keeps seeing things go in reverse rather than forward and doesn't know what to think. After being laid off from his job he decides to go on a little trip by himself to go look at his favorite place from childhood. Only to find out that's been contaminated. On his way home comes up on this young hippy guy whose car is broke down. One thing leads to another and the hippy talks him into towing his car to the hippy's house. Little does the man know that the young hippy will take him on an adventure and help bring the man out of his shell. Like I said before this is a good movie and I would definitely recommend this film to any one. I do want to rent this film to see if there are any deleted scenes. This film is a little quirky but worth the watch. Please see what you think.
