Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe), a teen down on his luck, works as a caddy at the snob-infested Bushwood Country Club to raise money for his college education. In an attempt to gain votes for a college scholarship reserved for caddies, Noonan volunteers to caddy for a prominent and influential club member (Ted Knight). Essentially 'Animal House' on the links, it's neither as raucous nor as outrageous as that definitive college comedy but it has the same rebellious spirit and a great cast of comedy legends showing the young co-stars how it's done.

Caddyshack is one of those comedies that's remembered more for its individual moments than its overall story. Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, and Ted Knight each bring completely different comedic styles, yet they somehow fit together perfectly. Murray's battle with the gopher and Dangerfield's nonstop one-liners have become comedy classics for a reason. The movie also deserves credit for its fearless sense of humor. It happily pokes fun at country club culture, class divisions, and social pretension without taking anything too seriously. That irreverent attitude helped influence a generation of comedies that followed. The biggest weakness is that there's barely a central plot holding everything together. Danny may be the main character, but he's regularly overshadowed by the much funnier supporting cast, making his story the least memorable part of the movie. Even so, the performances, quotable dialogue, and outrageous humor make Caddyshack an easy comedy to revisit.

*Caddyshack* is one of those comedies that feels effortlessly chaotic in the best way. The film doesn’t rely on a tight, conventional plot—instead, it thrives on its unforgettable characters and loose, sketch-like structure. Chevy Chase brings a laid-back coolness, Bill Murray steals scenes with his bizarre gopher obsession, and Rodney Dangerfield delivers rapid-fire one-liners that still land decades later. What really makes the movie work is its irreverent tone. It pokes fun at class divides and country club culture without ever feeling heavy-handed. The humor ranges from clever to outright absurd, but it rarely misses. It’s not a perfect film structurally plus its an 8/10, with its comedic energy and iconic moments more than make up for it. A classic that’s endlessly quotable and still genuinely funny.
