Would-be artist Ben (Sean Biggerstaff) realizes he has an extraordinary way of dealing with the tedium of his dead-end job stocking shelves at a store - he has acquired the ability to halt time and explore the world while the rest of the earth's population remains frozen in place. Ben's unusual talent helps him forget about a nasty breakup with his ex-girlfriend Suzy (Michelle Ryan), but he begins to stop time so often that he may miss out on a new romance with his coworker Sharon (Emilia Fox).

A good writer starts with characters and plot and allows the themes to come naturally from the story. Sean Ellis' script for Cashback is all theme, and it's not that interesting a one to begin with.

Surprisingly good movie! Unlike the critic's consensus, I thought the protagonist (Ben) was actually likeable and well played. I wouldn't watch this with teenagers due to the nudity but it was an interesting story and engaging. Definitely worth a watch.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Very enjoyable. It reminded me of Nicholson Baker’s book Fermata about a different hero who could stop time around him, although not as innocent as this one. Should we need to explain that this is not a documentary? That no human can survive without sleeping for four weeks straight? The whole thing is playful, well constructed and has a satisfactory happy ending. Some good songs as well, plus excerpts from operas. Finally, it does include female nudity which seems to upset people more than killings and mayhem.

It wants to be Terrence Malik and John Hughes all at the same time. Should’ve picked one. Some of the worst editing I’ve ever seen. The tone and pacing are just a mess.
