Cheap, unfunny jokes abound in this purported comedy about trying to maintain (cough) healthy (cough, cough) normal relationships. The plot is a nightmare: stick the characters in an environment that they can't leave, then let the film go nowhere for about 90 minutes before tacking on a "but we'll all be O.K. now" ending. Vapid, pointless movie: no romance, and no comedy (though this isn't shocking in Romantic Comedies anymore), and worse, no stakes, nothing to invest in and no characters to get behind. Mailed in, from beginning to end. Don't watch this.

Funny rom com about four couples who go to a tropical island resort only to find themselves in couples therapy! Good cast.

Lethargic and lazy comedy. It's like the producers have just thrown big name 'funny people' at it to kid people that it's funny, instead of actually writing a funny script/character/story. Who wrote and produced it? Why the main stars Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn did, instantly making it even more of a crime. The only highlights are Peter Serafinowicz who quite frankly should be doing better and the unfortunately named Carlos Ponce who plays an over used character better than most.

No where as near as funny as I had hoped for considering the cast line up. A few funny moments but not enough, I ended up appreciating the beautiful scenery of Bora Bora about half way through, more than the jokes!

Couples Retreat is a poorly crafted comedy. This film is so poorly made, and it's so irritating that you don't even care what happens, you lose interest halfway through. Vince Vaughn is terrible and so is Jon Favreau. I couldn't find one thing I liked about the film, and I thought as a romantic comedy, it failed as well. this is a pointless comedy that has strained comedy and is unfunny most of the time. I hated this film because I felt it was poorly made and most of the jokes fell flat. The cast try way too hard at being funny, and in the process ends up being irritating. The film is one of the worst comedies that I have seen, and has nothing good going for it. Nothing. This is a pointless film that fails on all fronts. The material delivered here has been done so many times before, done better as well. Couples Retreat is a boring film that really couldn't be entertaining. The film is lazy and tries to be funny, but it ends up being embarrassing. After seeing this film, I've become a little more wary of Vince Vaughn, and because of this film, I'm most likely never going to see anything with him again and he is simply a terrible actor and comedian who isn't funny and struggles with whatever role he can get. Couple Retreat is a pointless comedy with no laughs.

I really loved this movie. It was hilarious the activities that these couples had to go through. Like Dave getting bit by that shark & the yoga that they did. I was laughing every second of this movie. In the end they all realized that they never fell out of love with each other. I waited forever to watch this movie & I'm so glad that I did because I loved it & so will you!!!! :) :) :)

Good for a couple laughs. The rest of the time it tries to look for laughs and only manages to bring awkward moments.

When I first look at the poster of this movie and saw how great the cast of this movie, I put this movie as my must-watched comedy movie... Having Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis, and Jean Reno in a single movie is really great, and I do hope that this movie would be hilarious... But after what I saw for 107 minutes, I was left disappointed... I don't blame the cast's performance because they looks like enjoying themselves in this movie, and the beautiful landscape they have in this movie was totally amazing, it's like there's a little piece of heaven on earth... But the story, I must say that it was a very lousy story... Forcing your best friends to have a holiday with you and your couple with a different objectives, then the marriage counseling program that looks a little weird for me, I'm done with all of that... It's just feel like a waste when you have a really great cast, great landscape, but you can't work on a better story, just like this movie...

"Be an ass for your marriage. Be an ass for your children. Be an ass for love."

Couples Retreat should have been way more entertaining than it was. The story premise should have provided plenty of opportunities for laughs. The majority of the movie was filmed in Bora Bora, which is as close to heaven as you'll find on this earth, The cast has proven in other movies that they can be extremely funny, and the gorgeous actresses are in their bikinis more often than not. Despite all these obvious advantages, Couples Retreat ended up being a bland and unimpressive comedy.

The main problem was the script, which was very weak. Lots of the jokes fall flat, and the characters weren't well-written at all. It's a shame that these actors were wasted this way, because I'm convinced that with a better script, they all could have shined. Vince Vaughn, Faizon Love, and Carlos Ponce (in a small but hilarious role) are really the only three actors that get any laughs, but they seem to do it in spite of the script, instead of because of it.

If you want to see a funny relationship comedy that's set in a spectacularly beautiful place, I strongly recommend that you check out the far superior Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It's much funnier, and you'll still get to see Kristen Bell in a bikini. Win-win.

Nice scenery - beautiful to look and, and good cast. Sadly, that is the best I can say for it. Not especially funny or interesting. Disappointing.

What a waste of great cast and a chance to make a good relationship comedy. There are just mind-numbingly bad scenes that make no sense. And I never thought I would say this, but Peter Billingsly should stick to acting. Awful, awful, awful.

I found myself laughing quite a bit with this comedy about a group of friends who decide to go on a vacation/couples therapy at a beautiful island resort. While at the resort, the couples go through series of therapy sessions and group activities, trying to come together.
