With the help of wife Terri and dog Sue, Irwin embarks on another series of dangerous missions--rescuing snakes, spiders, and baby kangaroos from their current locations and transferring them to safer spots in the Australian Outback. Since this is a feature film, director John Stainton and screenwriter Holly Goldberg Sloan concoct a fictional story to give Irwin's adventure an added kick in the tail. Their concept, a sufficiently outlandish one concerning a shotgun-wielding cattle rancher (Magda Szubanski), CIA operatives, and a missing U.S. government satellite, does the trick quite nicely. The point of this picture, and in fact, the point of anything Steve Irwin-related, is Steve Irwin himself. And with COLLISION COURSE, Irwin proves that his cartoon-like presence is a supremely engaging one, no matter the venue. But Irwin is neither a sensationalist or an exhibitionist. He's a lover of animals as well as nature, and it is this childlike fascination with the earth's deadliest creatures that makes him such a wonder to behold. Crikey! [More]

Reviews for The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
Why, you may ask, why should you buy the movie milk when the TV cow is free? There's no good answer to that one.
When I say this movie's a charm, I'm really talking about [Steve] Irwin.
Whenever its story isn't bogged down by idiocy involving the CIA and a lost U.S. satellite, Hunter -- starring Irwin and his American wife/colleague, Terri -- is a movie children should enjoy.
As it stands, Crocodile Hunter has the hurried, badly cobbled look of the 1959 Godzilla, which combined scenes of a Japanese monster flick with canned shots of Raymond Burr commenting on the monster's path of destruction.
Possibly the most unintentionally hilarious film since Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space, Steve Irwin's big-screen debut is destined to become an instant cult classic.
As a wildly popular TV star and director of the Australia Zoo wildlife reserve, Steve Irwin has rescued 100 crocodiles, personally wrangling them for relocation. But he's powerless to save his movie debut.
You see a couple of likable people journeying though the outback, encountering dangerous critters and getting too close for comfort, while lecturing us on their habits and dangers and almost being killed by them.
Mr. Irwin's hammy lack of inhibition can be a little wearing; it's a good thing the snakes can't hear, or else they might get really mad. But his enthusiasm is ultimately irresistible.
[Irwin's] a charismatic figure and genuinely funny as he takes one flop after another into the swamp.
Irwin and his director never come up with an adequate reason why we should pay money for what we can get on television for free.
Irwin's zeal for for the beauties and oddities of his homeland is infectious. By the end of the movie, you'll probably think Irwin something of a beauty and oddity, too.
If you have to ask why this sucks, you deserve to waste your money. Why not also check out Like Mike, Juwanna Man and Hey Arnold! The Movie?
