Movie Info

Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne repeat their "Charters and Caldicott" characterizations from Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes for the British comedy-mystery Crooks Tour. This time, our cricket-happy heroes take a vacation in unoccupied Europe. They cross the path of a seemingly dedicated Nazi lass (Greta Gynt) who is actually loyal to the British crown. Laughs are in abundance, but the verbal wit displayed by Radford and Wayne in earlier films is noticeably lacking. Crooks Tour was one of hundreds

Audience Reviews for Crook's Tour

Fun little trek with several side characters from The Lady Vanishes taking the main billing. They are fun enough to keep the film's momentum throughout the duration.

A disappointing spinoff including the promising "Charters and Caldicott" characters from Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes". Filled with British banter and pointless song and dance numbers, "Crook's Tour" is a poor attempt to recycle crowd favorite characters in an uninteresting plot. Every simple trick is used, even the music montage/traveling by a line on the map scene. In the end this is a film to watch in context of "The Lady Vanishes", seeing how it sure wasn't a film I watched for enjoyment.
