The latest Marvel Comics superhero to hit the big screen is Daredevil (Ben Affleck), a man blinded by a radioactive chemical accident as a young boy but left with superhuman senses and agile acrobatic ability. Like his Marvel compatriot Spider-Man, Daredevil attempts to lead a normal life by day as Matt Murdock, a Hell's Kitchen defense attorney. By night Matt becomes Daredevil, a brooding superhero fighting for justice in the dark and squalid New York streets overrun with vermin and criminal injustice. Wearing a red leather suit and mask, Daredevil leaps from high skyscrapers and tracks his enemies with his radar-like vision, punishing those who are guilty but who he cannot tackle in the courtroom. At the center of the city's villainous underbelly is Daredevil's nemesis Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan), and his psychotic, knife-wielding deputy-assassin Bullseye (Colin Farrell). Daredevil fights their powerful forces alone, until he meets Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner of ALIAS fame), a skilled martial artist and sexy superheroine who is after Bullseye and Kingpin for murdering her father. Sparks fly as the two heroes take on the underlords of crime together in this action-packed adventure fantasy that will surely delight fans of SPIDER-MAN, X-MEN, or BATMAN. [More]

Reviews for Daredevil
The numerous fight scenes have been filmed in Confuse-o-Rama, a headache-inducing technique that mixes a dozen too many cuts per minute, projectile P.O.V., and intermittent glimpses of the hero's sonar sensorium.
A collection of false starts interrupted by an awful lot of angst-ridden contemplation, the picture serves up soul-searching gush with scant pulse-pounding rush.
Daredevil has electric energy, a wickedly dark sense of humor, some ingenious fight scenes and that high-powered cast.
There'll be plenty of ragging to go around once audiences get a dose of the dullest live-action comic strip on record, one that lacks even an interesting villain.
With the appearance in movie theaters of Daredevil, we have now officially arrived at the bottom of the comic-book pile.
Daredevil isn't laugh-out -loud lousy, it's something worse: deeply, depressingly average.
After sundry Batmans and last summer's Spider-Man, the comic-book formula of childhood loss, filial revenge, and freakish physical prowess doesn't seem all that fresh anymore.
Completely devoid of subtlety or sense, the film is a series of bad scenes connected by empty characters, most of whom seem like leftovers from scripts abandoned long ago.
Too hollow and pedestrian to dramatize the conflict between its hero's vigilante streak and his moral straits imaginatively.
The flick misses the bull's-eye by such a length that nobody except hard-core fanboys and leather fetishists will be panting for the sequel promised at the end.
A decent version of a comic book brought to the big screen with moments of gleaming intensity.
