In February of 1944, she was struck by an aerial torpedo and was heavily flooded in many compartments. Due to the resolve of the crew led by Captain Thomas L. Sprague as well as the solid framework of the ship herself, the Intrepid was miraculously able to pull into Pearl Harbor where she was repaired and sent back into battle only two months later. This film tells this story, one of many that could be told about the illustrious ship, which sailed for nearly thirty years on the high seas. James Coburn plays the ship's captain, based on the heroic Capt. Sprague. [More]

While most carbon-copy rip-offs try to hide their plagiarized roots, Deep Water wallows gleefully in its own stolen plot threads and unoriginal contrivances.
