I cannot recommend film educators inflict this upon their classrooms enough. chatgpt will not be able to pick apart the subtle nuances of this film, such as "the black character lives to the end," or, "actually there's a reason the female main love interest was so hypersexualized, no, really!" which will make it very easy for you to tell which of your students actually wants to be there enough to put up with this. film makers take note: doing the opposite of all the trashy, awful tropes in a genre or fandom won't make your movie good unless you also make a good movie. that being said, this flaming pile was entertaining start to finish in a "spot the trope" sort of way, so you win some. See more Chris M @RT21954632 11/14/2023 Wes Craven is a master of horror, but like Dario Argento made the same mistake. He fucked up a Dracula movie. First problem, leaches are blind, they only attach themselves to warm bodies, vampires are moving corpses and therefore NOT warm enough for leaches to dine on. Van Helsing went through all this because Dracula is unkillable, which isn't true by the end. Which I'll get to shortly. But sounds like Van Helsing didn't try hard enough. The death traps in the vault is quite illegal, considering it can kill friend as well as foe. The characters are awful, the pacing is awful. SPOILER WARNING!!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED STOP READING: Dracula is the first vampire, which he never was. But it gets dumber. Vlad Dracul where the name Dracula, who has real history isn't European royalty, he was really Judas Iscariot cursed to become a vampire by God for betraying Jesus. That makes NO FUCKING SENSE. I can see Judas being cursed for his crime by god, I can see that. "He Never Died" also explored that concept. But as a vampire? I don't know about you but the Father of Jesus wouldn't curse someone that cause innocent people to be killed. I didn't like Craven's "Last House On The Left". But at least made sense, sad but true. There are a few things kinda wrong, but the weirdly good acting takes over, especially from Coolio. He steals the spotlight every time he's on screen, bringing so much life to the movie.
