See more John C @RT25427934 11/03/2024 If you've seen either `Eagle Eye' or one of the `Bourne' films then you've basically seen a better version of `Echelon Conspiracy.' It's not a bad film, just not quite as good as the ones it was based on. It has a decent enough cast to elevate it above most of the B-movie thrillers, but it's nothing we haven't seen before, i.e. it's a `chase movie.' Shane West plays... whoever is going to be chased by... whichever shady agency is after him. Therefore, he gets chased from one European city to the next, narrowly escaping each time. Until such time as he can bring the perpetrator to justice. The first half doesn't contain an awful lot of chasing and, in my opinion, it's actually better for it. There's an air of mystery about it where you don't know what's going to happen and it is quite tense in places. However, the second half is where the action/chases take place and so it feels a bit like we've seen it all before. If you're in the mood for a Boune clone of a movie then you could do worse than this. See more 04/17/2019 Didn't love the intro scenes, main actor wasn't very good, and overall not the slickest of productions, but loved the topics discussed. 10 years after it was made, it look very ahead of its time, considering how everyone is happily installing in-home surveillance devices with artificial intelligence, like 'nest cameras', amazon echo, google home, etc. . (this was made in 2009) Could end up one of those movies that finds an audience decades after it gets made. Also find it interesting that 'eagle eye' came out at almost the exact same time. See more 08/19/2016 Echelon Conspiracy seems like a made for television movie that was accidentally released to theaters. Greg Marcks must be a Will Smith fan to make a movie that is the average of two Smith flicks: Enemy of the State and I, Robot. Echelon Conspiracy offers nothing new and blandly imitates its successful predecessors. And my goodness, who was in charge of casting? Shane West is too weak of a lead actor and Martin Sheen is too strong of a supporting actor for this film to feel properly balanced; it's like watching a white belt fight a black belt. There was a lot of potential here, but its unrealized and the movie is ultimately disappointing. See more Read all reviews
