Facing an empty nest as her daughter prepares to leave for college, massage therapist Eva (Julia Louis Dreyfuss) meets a charming and funny (if overweight) guy; but, will she follow her heart, or allow her budding affection to be poisoned by listening to his ex-wife's complaints? This pleasant adult romantic comedy with a steady stream of low-key laughs allows the late James Gandolfini to take his final bow as a nice guy instead of a wise guy.

Enough Said proves that a smart romantic comedy does exist for those of us of a certain age. Both Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini skillfully tell a tender tale of relationships good and bad by creating wonderful characters caught in the middle-aged mating dance. Nicole Holofcener creates one of the best comedies of 2013. (9-26-13)

The real question everyone wants to ask is, "How was James Gandolfini in his final role?" and the answer is pretty damn spectacular. After a career of being known as Tony Soprano, and playing mobsters, Gandolfini ends with a beautiful, heartwarming tale of two middle aged, divorced individuals, who, by the fate of the world, meet at a part, wherein they state there's "no one [there] who attracts [them]." Why does this film work so well? Because of the chemistry between Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Both actors give flawless performances; this being, in my opinion, the best Gandolfini has been in his entire career. If Nicole Holofcener hasn't convinced you that she's a serious director after having made 'Please Give,' this film is sure to establish her amongst one of the funniest, and best directors of the 2000's. The script, also written by Holofcener is magnificent, and ultimately, what makes the film. It's hilarious and bittersweet; overall marvellously written. It's a disappointment, though, that when I saw this film, everyone other than me was over the age of 65. It's really not a film that should be preserved to that age group, because anyone can relate to it. For this opening weekend, if one of your local theaters is blessed with this film, see it. On a weekend with Rush, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and Don Jon opening, Enough Said is the shining star of the four.

There were funny moments. ENOUGH SAID had a strong first half but a weak second half; but still better than PLEASE GIVE. My grade: B-

My Review
I honestly that this was an independent film, but I guess I was wrong. I thought that this film wouldn't come to a theater near me for about two weeks. If it's in a theater near you and you haven't seen it I recommend you do. I wonder if i'm still the only one who thinks Julia Dreyfus looks like sally Field.
Enough Said is about a divorced single parent named Eva played by Julia Dreyfus who spends her days enjoying her work as a masseuse but is dreading her daughter's impending departure for college. One night at a party she meets Albert played by James Gandolifini a sweet, funny, and like-minded man who is also facing an empty nest.During there time together Eva has a client named Marianne played by Catherine Keener who is a poet and rags on her ex-husband way to much and it turns out it's Albert.
Any kind of film has the potential of being a good one or a bad one. But in a time where everyone won't shut up about big huge summer blockbusters or gory and terrifying horror films it's nice to see films like Enough Said being made.
Unfortunately while this film was being made or around the time James Gandolfini died of a cardiac arrest,he was fifty two when he died. But his last outing was one of his best performances and I'm pretty sure to those who watch his show on HBO that he will be missed.
Julia Dreyfus, Catherene Keener and Toni Collette are three other shining stars in this film. Toni Collette plays Sarah who keeps warning Eva that things will go bad if she listens to Marianne. Catherene Keenner plays Marianne a poet who is the one raging on her Ex Albert.
I have seen Toni Collette earlier this year in a film called The Way,Way Back and I hope she keeps going with the good film streak she's got going on, she might become one of my favorite actresses.
I did not feel anything while watching Enough said but the humor and charm is what makes this film so great. I am glad I finally noticed it was in a theater near me sooner then I expected. It has two great actors with great chemistry and there was an article in entertainment weekly where Julia Dreyfus said to her interviewer "It was like a perfect blind date." Kind of like how this movie was like a perfect date movie. I give Enough Said a five out of five.

A good-humored romantic/divorce comedy with great Julia Louis-Dreyfus, very good Gandolfini and support.

General audiences will probably appreciate this movie more than I did. I never watched Sopranos so was not familiar with Gandolfini's "other" character. I liked the rest of the cast and the writing was pretty good. It explores some universal issues in a way that I hadn't seen in a film before and yet the story was kind of formulaic and predictable. Might be a good "date movie" for mid-lifers who are exploring second, third relationships.

Strip away Diane Keaton, LIndsay Lohan and although I still like her, Nora Ephron, and you're left with the raw, real emotion of a romantic comedy that admits how scared we are about relationships in the later years. Sometimes it was so real, I found myself cringing for the characters' discomfort instead of wishing Keaton would stop trying to be so damn cute. Gandolfini gets to play who Tony Soprano might have been as a suburban dad sans corruption, and Julia LD sheds her funny-all-the-time onscreen persona. Sabotaging your own love life never looked this good or rang this true.

It's good solid romantic comedy about the complexity of falling in love after divorce for emptynest-ers. The acting is good. The plot is interesting. There are funny bits and pieces through out. It makes you think and been hopeful at the end.

Easily one of the best romantic comedies of 2013. Louis-Dreyfus & Gandolfini have true on-screen chemistry in this, and this is one of the best "real" relationships I have seen in a film, in a long time. A must-see, and currently one of my favorite 2013 films.

Really fine movie with two excellent actors. It would not seem as though these two could have such fine chemistry. Really good acting is delivered by silence and expression as much as by dialogue. These two nailed it.

Disappointing. Hyped too much. Quite slow. Touching to see Gandolfini. Great idea, but execution....

Mine and Hannah's age combined was still lower than the average viewer, but we both loved it. Lots of laughs.

Very few mainstream films have been made about post divorce middle age people searching for relationships. Enough Said avoids any attempts to glamorize and instead uses nice ironic humor to prod and probe at the characters' vulnerabilities and insecurities as scar tissue is exposed. Julia Louis Dreyfuss' acting chops have never been on better display. If there are some criticisms the movie could have been cut by at least ten minutes and some other locations other than sofas and dining tables could have been explored.

The late James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus play a couple of devorcees who must work through obstacles. Gandolfini is delightfully charming and warm. The movie is intimate, smart, and likeable. It doesn't change the world but it made my day feel a little better.

A story of grown ups seeking companionship - even love. But guardedly and cautiously, and with a bit of self-sabotage resulting from the fear and trepidation that result from painful pasts. I like the tensions between reaching out and pulling back that play out in all of the relationships in this movie.
