Mark B @Thelaser555 May 14 Watched it for the first time the other day and just couldn't see what all the fuss was about this movie when it thankfully ended. It's stupid, ridiculous and racist (Kline continually slagging off 'the English' or 'the Brits' for everything and anything when he himself is a foul-mouthed psychopath) For an experienced barrister in this production, Cleese let's his d*ck get the better of his brain whenever he's alone with Curtis and eventually gives up everything - enormous house, attractive wife, daughter and his profession, to fly to South America with some jewels so he can be with her. As if. Michael Palin draws on his Monty Python days to act the fool as gangster George Thomason's assistant...why would Thomason choose someone like that? Kline eats Palin's pet fishes he keeps in a big tank....but not Wanda, the name of Palin's biggest fish and oh, but of course, the name of Curtis too. This movie celebrates infidelity by the male, crime and a middle-aged man's (Cleese) lust. See more Jordan S. @jswez Apr 29 Solid watch. I understand it was well received in the 80's and I never saw it than- but watching now in 2025- it's a silly movie. Not a huge monty python fan and I'm puzzled people thought it was funny at all, I didn't laugh once and thought it really silly. The heist is fantastically short, a few minutes, and the premise and aftermath aren't smart- very mediocre. I won't be keeping in my collection but at least I got to watch it so I can say I had and not watch it again. Hat's off to Curtis, she's got an ass any man would've loved to suck on.
