Blu B @RT43513976 Nov 7 It's nowhere near as focused or clever as the first one. But it somehow manages to maintain the same style, direction, and campy self aware tone. Except the difference is it feels like this one is trying to sepcfically copy or match the first one almost pound for pound. If you told me this was the same director I'd believe you. The special effects also are still first rate and as good as the first. And the music is good also though it's very simliar to the first and not as good. The editing is ok enough and everything else is half decent. It's a revenge from a relative never meantioned previously plot. Why tthey had to have him go through therapy at the start makes no sense to me. The plot starts jumping around between the werewolf and his girlfriend, Vincent trying to uncover the new vampire, and Charlie with his girlfriend and trying to maintain the new belief of no vampires. It becomes very unfocused and jumpy by the middle of the film in an almost shocking way. But it does make sense and pretty much follows the basic premise of the first one. All efforts to try and differentiate it fail and make it more unfocused and messy. It does maintain the look and feel of the first almost to a tee which helps a lot. If your a die hard fan of this franchise or any actors here maybe check this out honestly. But most should just stick to the first. The film is enjoyable for the most part . The acting good nothing great. Director did well with the shots and recapture the first film vibe well. Story is the killer here it's not well written. The fresh take could have been very good with alternative takes or reworking of the script. If you love the first film give this one a change too See more John C @RT25427934 02/13/2025 Despite my love of all things 80s horror-related, I never really 'got' the original 'Fright Night.' I know it's regarded as a classic of the genre and has a massive fan-base, so who am I to say whether it's good or not. However, despite multiple viewings, at best I'd describe it as 'okay.' So my hopes weren't really high when it came to the sequel. And, if I had to sum it up I'd say 'stuff happens.' It's kind of more of the same, but seemingly less so. The original protagonist (Charlie) has grown up (slightly) and - unsurprisingly - no one believes him that he and a famous TV presenter once killed a load of suburban vampires. Naturally, things take a turn for the worst and shake up his 'post vampire' life when the sister of the original bloodsucker decides to come after him for some revenge. The trouble is I never found either entry scary enough to be considered 'horror' and definitely not 'funny' enough to be comedies. Yes, they're certainly campy, but this one seems to take even longer to get going. I was basically very bored, although the last fifteen minutes (i.e. final confrontation) was pretty fun and definitely had some creative gore/practical effects to entertain. It just all seemed too little too late. I guess if you really enjoyed the original (and I know plenty of people did!) you'll probably appreciate this one, as the most important cast members reprise their roles.
