Movie Info

This follow-up to the successful 1973 thriller Westworld stars Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner as Chuck Browning and Tracy Ballard, investigative reporters. The team has been dispatched to the expensive theme park Westworld on the remote island of Delos, to find out what caused the park's robots to go berserk and begin killing the cash customers. They discover that Duffy (Arthur Hill), creator of Westworld, has retooled his park into Futureworld, a supposedly "fail safe" recreational mecca. In truth, he is scheming to replace all of the world leaders with robot clones, the better to take over the globe. Yul Brynner, the steely-eyed cowboy android from Westworld, makes a brief return appearance.more

Audience Reviews for Futureworld

The cast may be good, but this sequel to Westworld is pretty much the same as the first, except it's slower and less exciting.

Strange things are afoot once again at the Delos resorts in the Westworld sequel, Futureworld. This time Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner star as two intrepid reports who are send to the Delos theme parks as part of a PR campaign to show off the newly upgraded and improved operations, including the addition of a Futureworld park; but they soon discover that things are a little too efficient and controlled. While Danner gives a good performance, the rest of the cast is rather bland. And the plot is pretty formulaic, with a lot of standard tropes about robots and evil corporations. A bit of a generic thriller, Futureworld is mundane and unimpressive.

An unworthy sequel to Westworld, Futureworld is bland as hell.
There are no memorable scenes whatsoever, action sequences are something out of the 20s, actors all seem bored and don't deliver an gist of emotion, overlong, the plot despite having great ideas, doesn't go anywhere and so on and so on.

A complete miss and a bit of an insult to the original's extravaganza.
