Excellent movie. I'm not sure how accurate the movie was, but an intriguing movie of Genghis Khan's life.

Dull, and a tad culturally insensitive.

The story of the life of Genghis Khan / Tumujin, the man who built the
largest empire in history.

Starts out interestingly enough, but pretty soon degenerates into soap
opera. Light on history, high on empty melodrama.

Add in the fact that hardly any of the cast are actually Mongol or
Chinese and the whole thing looks a bit hokey, and embarrassing. It is
a toss up which is more embarrassing: Robert Morley as the Chinese
Emperor, James Mason as a stereotypical Chinese person or blonde
Francoise Dorleac (Catherine Deneuve's sister, by the way) as Genghis
Khan's wife.

At least Omar Sharif looks closer to the part than John Wayne...

good historical epic

More Hollywood than history, but still a good ride. Excellent acting by big-name actors carries the movie more than the story line does. Definitely worth watching.

This one wasn't too bad, but a bit odd at times...score can get a bit annoying at times...story is apparently very inaccurate...but I kinda thought that it might be. The cast is very strange but interesting.

Genghis Khan is a decent film. There were some exciting battles. Omar Sharif and Stephen Boyd give good performances. The screenplay is adequate. Henry Levin did an okay job directing this movie. I liked it but it is not one of favorites. Genghis Khan is a pretty good epic.

Average film for its day. Did find it slightly amusing that although it was set principally in China and Mongolia all of the leading characters (with the exception of Omar Sharif) seemed to be of European stock! Although James Mason was a good actor he did not play a Chinaman too well.

A good telling of the legendary Mongal, spoilt a little bit by the Hollywood formula it employs.
