Golf in the Kingdom, is adapted from Michael Murphy's 1972 classic novel, the best-selling work of fiction ever written about the game of golf, with millions of readers in many languages. For anyone coming in cold, this can be a ponderous cinematic experience.
Top CriticGolf may be the world's dullest spectator sport, not counting soccer: it takes a long time for not much to happen. By that standard, "Golf in the Kingdom" captures the game perfectly.
A story comprised of pretentious meditative fragments.
Filmmaker Susan Streitfeld takes all of the mysticism at face value, shutting the audience out of pleasures that are discussed but rarely shown.
