The film begins as Masamichi Toyama (Ogata), a man with a large gambling debt, is tracked down by his yakuza lenders and forced to endure a beating and the rape of his wife. Humiliated, Masamichi sets out for revenge with only a sword and ends up teaming with the Gonin, a group of five female thieves who would like nothing better than to loot the local yakuza base. Unfortunately, when they steal the ring Masamichi wanted for his wife, Masamichi turns against his erstwhile cohorts to get the ring back. A highly stylized and violent crime drama, GONIN 2 retains the visual sensibility of its successor and adds even more perverse humor to the mix, making the film a highly entertaining blend of genres.
