May have been more successful had director Ken Cameron taken a less earnest approach...All the same, performances are tops, especially Bryan Brown and on and off screen wife Rachel Ward Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE 2d It appears that half the American viewers have developed ADHD and the worse negative comment they can make about a movie is that it is slow. The movie actually moves at a pretty brisk pace. The events we are presented with on the other hand don’t make sense. The heroine lives with a man, but they say they are not married although they wear rings. She asks permission to have sex with the other man in the house and her request is granted. Then she receives the hot shot, played by Sam Neil, who arrives on the train and on their way from the station he attempts to grab her by the sushi. Later we learn that he already has a female companion in town. Apparently free love originated in the Australian outback in the 1930s. At the 40:47 mark I decided I had enough. See more 12/27/2008 A slow, but very interesting and visually beautiful I really like Bryan Brown's character Sonny, who is kind even in the face of his wife's lost state. Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown always light up the screen and bring an interesting chemistry. I won't watch it again, but enjoyed it nonetheless. See more 01/30/2008 "The Good Wife" is slow, solemn and boring, and so I assume it is meant to be a serious study of Marge and her problems. But this material is so dead that maybe having fun with it was the only hope. See more 07/08/2007 Interesting, yet foolish movie. It details an obsession mildly, and could have showed more psychological struggle. For a late 80's movie, the acting is decent as well as the picture. It won't leave you feeling as you were when you first began watching it. See more Read all reviews
