As Blu-Ray still remains largely the province of gamers and fanboys, I don't really see the point of even releasing Grease on the format at all.

As a new school year begins, wholesome Australian exchange student Sandy (pop star Olivia Newton-John) and duck-tailed, leather-jacketed Danny (John Travolta) parlay their summertime romance into an on-and-off attraction that may or may not cross clique lines. Sandy seriously cramps Danny's style, so he dumps her. In response, Sandy begins dating a wholesome athlete, but, as a hedge, she also joins the gum-chewin', tough-talkin' clique known as the Pink Ladies. One of the most beloved musicals of all time, the popular soundtrack includes "You're the One that I Want," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," "Sandy," "Summer Nights," and the title tune. [More]

Reviews for Grease
I can definitely imagine a modern tween coming across this movie and thinking, "What the heck is this?"
...there's no denying the charisma of the stars and the infectious nature of the song-and-dance numbers. (Blu-ray Edition)
Overall, the Grease (Rockin' Rydell Edition) is absolutely worth buying even if you have the previous edition, as much for its newly-remastered transfer as the bounty of bonus materials.
The Broadway-hit-turned-movie succeeds ... because of its charismatic cast, show-stopping musical numbers, and genuine sense of fun.
A solid-gold Fifties' atmosphere, great singable/danceable songs, good character chemistry, plenty of humor, and the kind of energy that you normally only get on a Broadway opening night. The cast really makes up for any shortcomings in the script.
Allen Carr calls Grease his own big party on the bonus featurette. Why do I get the feeling he auditioned for the part of Patty Simcox?
