Some bizarre musical numbers in the granddaddy of all "strange ventriloquist" chillers.

An early talkie that gets your attention because it's so perverse.

Audience Reviews for The Great Gabbo

Campy and fun to watch from a historical perspective, as it is one of the first talkies. Gabbo is a ventriliquist that treats his dummy like a real person and can only express affection through him. Decent acting and storyline intermingled with laughably bad and over the top musical numbers.

Fascinating early talkie and the first movie with a devilish ventriloquist dummy. Well acted Von Stroheim. Unusual mix of melodrama and musical numbers. A real curio.
