Routine B-western, shot in B/W and directed in a lackluster way.

Audience Reviews for Gunsight Ridge

Slow paced Western looks more like television than a cinema release. Wells Fargo undercover special agent in the West comes to town to reveal unsuspected criminal gang leader. The town slowly comes round to ridding themselves of outlaws.

Stars mild mannered Joel McCrea, veteran screen actor in several dozen lesser known films to me. Actually, the entire cast is unknown to me (but that may not be saying much). Black and white.

Fairly routine Western, people may recognize the saloon owner who went on to play a farmer neighbor in tv's Green Acres of sixties sitcom fame. The unusual use of a company special agent by a community to assist the sheriff may have forshadowed the popular TV western The Wild, Wild West with Treasury Agent Jim West. Not sure of that however.

The title: Gunsight Ridge, comes from the chase scene at the end where some difficult terrain called Gunsight Ridge is supposed to slow a rider down. A curious reference. The showdown between agent McCrea and Mark Steven (gambler) evolves.

For Western fans and maybe no one else.
