A literary love triangle is explored in this film, which was the first to earn an NC-17 rating. While traveling in Paris, author Henry Miller (Fred Ward) and his wife, June (Uma Thurman), meet Anais Nin (Maria de Medeiros), and sexual sparks fly as Nin starts an affair with the openly bisexual June. When June is forced to return to the U.S., she gives Nin her blessing to sleep with her husband. Then, when June returns to France, an unexpected, and sometimes contentious, threesome forms.

See more simon s @RT93495985 08/25/2024 Hernry and June is a film that I have come back to a few times at different stages of my life. Maybe as I have lived life more, I have appreciated it more. Yes it's not perfect, but oveall is worthy exploration of sexualty, artistic merit and ultimatly in a way marriage. In some ways a movie of its time and also slightly dated. Artistic sex scenes place it in a time when nudity was not commonplace. But viewed thru my reading glass eyes, I can only now appreciate the completicated nature of sexuality, hedonism and relationships. As they say these days, your mileage may vary.
