You don't have to be a horse lover to appreciate Horses. But after watching this docudrama, it's easy to understand how people become horse lovers.
Enjoyment of Horses will be proportional to how in touch we are with that teenage girl inside, delightedly reading My Friend Flicka for the umpteenth time.
Horses covers a lot of ground, some worthy and some not, but it is best when it's reminding us that horses are at their most beautiful when they're doing what they want to do, which is to run like the wind.
[S]tagy and preposterous scenes outnumber the well crafted moments.
The two contrived accidents aside, the tale feels true, warm-hearted and told with love and care for the animal.
Blending the imperatives of adventure, drama, nature and wildlife film, large-format veteran Michael Caulfield makes a solid fist of this modestly conceived but handsomely produced, FFC-funded IMAX film.
