Sergio A @Sergio83 Jun 14 The Idiots is a film in which Lars von Trier was able to fully explore what he does best: telling stories that are emotionally engaging, unconventional, and genuinely challenging. Does it have flaws? Absolutely. At times, it even feels as though von Trier was somewhat careless, perhaps because he knew the project was ultimately an experiment and not a conventional film. That said, he could have handled certain aspects more effectively. Still, the experiment was worth it. What may initially seem like a monotonous or aimless story gradually reveals its purpose, and by the end, much of what came before gains a deeper meaning. Von Trier is definitely my favorite director, and while this may be one of his worse films, it's still an amazing film. All of the hyjinks are fun and provocative, but this is also one of von Trier's most heartfelt films that at its core, is a deeply moving and emotional story. The Idiots is definitely not for everyone, but it's a great and emotional addition to alternative cinema.
